Starting a Car Club: Las Vegas TT Club

Las Vegas Audi TT Club

This is my adventure in starting a car club for owners and enthusiasts of the Audi TT. Last year I came into owning a barely used and garaged 2000 Audi TT MK1 with only 44,000 miles, which was in real good shape. My I must confess, I love this car, It reminds me of my old roommate’s 1970 911T Porsche, and back to driving a stick shift reminds me of my youth. So after a year of ownership, and seeing many TT’s on the road, I decided to form a car club for the Audi TTs of Las Vegas.

Now I searched around the web and there really are not too many Audi TT specific clubs out there. I found one in the UK at https://www.ttoc.co.uk/ and some that tried in 2002 and 2008, but they did not see any type of success.

Now, there seems to be quite a few general Audi clubs and even one in Las Vegas. But, I am going out on a limb and limiting it to the Las Vegas Area (Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas and the surrounding valley) and whoever want to join virtually is welcome too.

Currently, there are no dues, no multi-level marketing scams, products to buy or fees associated with joining. With this new adventure, we will see how this goes. There might be some success or end up a miserable failure with a meet-up with myself and my wife as the only ones to show. So I am going to journal about my adventures here and see what happens.

Bought the domain lvttclub.com. I was not sure if this could be confused with a strip club or a car club- but I went with it anyways.

Built this web site in WordPress, also set up a forum for the Audi TT <- still working with it phpBB to get it straight.
Registered @lvttclub on twitter, threw up a few tweets and followed a bunch of Vegas and Audi TT Twitterers.
Posted my first repair guide to fix the commonly broken driver mirror switch. Lots of photos on how to do it.

Membership, now, the only person I knew that had a TT just recently sold it and got a GTI. This maybe wasn’t a good idea to start a car club with 1 member (me).
Worked on the web site and put up a contact form and a quick mission statement.

Ordered a box of business cards, yes business card (do people really still use these things) threw it together real quick. The main purpose of the cards, is that I see TTs everywhere in Las Vegas, at the gym, grocery stores, on the road, in line at Starbucks, etc… Using the cards, I hope, will be a quick way to contact people I see or leave them a note on their windshield to invite them to join. I really not sure if it will work or they will just throw them away. ETA form VistaPrint for delivery is July 14. In the mean time, I am just going to use my LasVegas360.com cards with my contact info and write a personal note on the back.

Happy Independence Day!  I realized that I had only 2 photos of my TT and needed some pics for the website. Ran the TT up to Red Rock Canyon and grabbed a few photos of the car with the mountains as a backdrop.

On my way to my mother’s house to say hello, I spotted a TT down the street park at a house. I had no cards with me but I scratched out my first “Nice TT” note, nervously slipped it under the windshield wiper and an invite them to the website, so far no response.

Worked on a few scratches in the bumper. Decided to take it for a ride and get some gas. This time i grabbed some of my old cards and had them stored in the car.

As I was heading up Sahara, a lowered silver coupe with white rims was turning in the opposite direction, I was heading west and they where heading east. I had to go up quite a ways before I could turn around and try to catch them, but they we gone, it was a really eye-catching car with the rims and lowered stance.  My second TT of the day was in the same area, all black convertible- look like a 2008 or so.I caught up with them and then began to follow, they where headed to the gym. I kinda felt like a creeper following them. But I pulled up next to their car smiled and told them that I liked their car and I was starting a TT only car club and handed them a car and said to check it out.  Follow a nice white convertible TT with a couple in. Followed it for a few blocks, once on a side street, flashed my lights and they pulled to the side and I spoke with them for a few minutes and left a card.  On the way home, spotted a green TT, looked like it might belong to someone working close by, as for it was our far in the parking lot, left a card and a note. This time i took a photo too. TT- Spotting.  Well, that is it for the day, we will see if there are any responses.

  1. So what is the status of your club? I am in Philadelphia and would like to join a TT club. Perhaps we can have chapters?

    1. We are just a local car club is Las Vegas that is specialized for Audi TT owners/driver only. You might want to join a larger world wide car club Audi Club North America – https://audiclubna.org/ which is sponsored by Audi themselve or just start your own. – goodluck
